Paul’s role is to share ESA’s climate research, and the datasets it creates using information from Earth Observation satellites, with scientists, people in government and the public across all ESA member states.

At Space4Climate, Sabrina coordinates groups of scientists, government representatives and people from industry working to find ways of using satellites and Earth Observation data to help solve problems caused by climate change.

Sorcha is passionate about looking after the planet. Her role at Shetland’s SaxaVord Spaceport is to make sure they launch satellites in a way that is as environmentally friendly as possible.

While studying for her Masters, Luisa is working with people in Sri Lanka on a project combining AI and robotics to make devices that will allow the community to monitor the condition of the wetlands around them.

Roy developed his expertise in electronics as an apprentice in the Royal Navy. At Airbus, he has worked in various ways on the design, building, testing and operation of dozens of satellite missions.

Harjinder works with farming communities in North India using Earth observation data to respond to global challenges. She also teaches undergraduates, and supervises postgraduate students and researchers.

Alison moved from atmospheric research into trace gases to working with the full range of Earth Observation and environmental data held at CEDA. Her role involves making sure it is reliable and accessible to those who need to use it.

Chandra’s work for CGI has included contributing to a digital model of the entire Earth system that can be used to investigate the impact of different actions we might take to reduce the impacts of climate change.

Jason looks for ways to extend the use of Ordnance Survey mapping information by combining it with Earth Observation data to gain new insights into issues related to issues such as the impact of climate change on the UK.

Mason works for SaxaVord spaceport and aims to inspire people of all ages in Shetland, Scotland, and beyond to learn about space and train for careers in the industry by creating resources for everyone, whatever their age and background.

Neil has set up instruments that detect greenhouse gases on buildings across London. He is using data from these and other sources to get better measurements of the city’s emissions.

Damien leads teams at Arup using GIS processing to analyse Earth Observation data to work on natural capital. His role gives him insight into the skills and qualities needed by those wanting to work in this field.

Cait manages ASDC programmes that are used by museums and science centres across the UK. She works with researchers, designers and trainers to help them share the latest environmental science in new and creative ways.

Hina spent many years in Earth Observation research. She now works for Spire Global, a company making small satellites that monitor the planet in real time, where she works with industry and government deliver applications and develop new technology.

Alexis analyses Earth Observation data, using software, to help solve environmental problems at Space Intelligence Ltd. She is also involved in developing new technologies that will make it easier to monitor and care for the planet.

Andrew creates links between businesses and organisations with problems to solve and the analysts and software engineers at ASTROSAT who can help them develop solutions using Earth Observation and data from other sources.

Melissa worked in the creation of a business hub around Newquay airport. She is now in charge of the development of Spaceport Cornwall which will use the runway to start satellites on their journey into orbit.

Kristina works with all scientists at the University of Edinburgh whose research is related to space, creating new collaborations between them and with companies who have an interest in their particular area.

Hayley spent several years using Earth Observation data to find out more about the oceans. At EUMETSAT, her varied work supports all sorts of people – not just scientists – to do the same.

Sarah’s work at Ecometrica is to support businesses to measure their environmental impact, and to work with government agencies to develop tools that will help organisations meet existing and future environmental obligations.
